A morbidly obese dog left “to die” on the streets of Thailand was rescued and given a second chance at life. The adorable pooch underwent a massive transformation and is now living a spectacular life with her new family. The furry friend named Cindy Crawford was found on the streets in September 2023 by Niall Harbison, whose bio on X said he is “on a mission to save 10,000 dogs a month.” Weighing about 46 kg (or around 100lbs), the canine was found outside a 7-Eleven with seemingly no will to live. Every shelter dog wants a loving home, but regrettably, some are passed over because of false impressions about their appearance. Consider the situation of Biggie, a dog whose “scary” appearance has made it difficult for him to find a permanent home. Pit bull Biggie, who is between three and five years old, is kept at the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter in Branford, Connecticut. His life has been an unpleasant series of setbacks, including long spells of abandonment and being let down by several families. Even after more than 210 days of waiting, prospective adopters avoid Biggie because they found his appearance to be too frightening. Biggie has a medium energy level, enjoys hikes and vehicle journeys, and is best suited for families with children 14 years of age and older, according to the shelter staff. On the afternoon of Aug. 10, 1628, the Vasa, built by the Swedish to be one of the most powerful warships in the Baltic, set off from the palace docks in Stockholm. The Vasa did not even make it one mile. A strong gust of wind caused the 226-foot-long ship to keel over as water poured in through its open gun ports, which were on display for its maiden voyage. About 150 people were believed to be on board when it sank; about 30 died. Now, nearly 400 years later, advanced DNA testing is allowing researchers to learn more about the ship’s dead, including a woman known as “G,” whom researchers had long believed to be a man. They even named her “Gustav” in a museum display. “It’s fascinating to get a sense of who they are as individuals, but also what they tell us about what the Swedish population was like 400 years ago,” said Fred Hocker, the director of the Vasa Museum in Stockholm, where the ship is now displayed in its entirety. We all remember our lost loved ones in different ways. Families often have traditions to honor those who have passed on, and it’s only right that such traditions are respected by others. Sadly that’s not always the case, as the family of the late Mark Rosenthal know all too well. As per reports, Mark passed away 13 years ago, but his family still visit his gravesite to celebrate his life. For Mark’s family, though losing him was a tragedy that will never truly heal, they’ve found that by feeling that they’re closer to him, they can help to lessen the pain of his absence. Even so, they faced abuse online for the way they marked a special day in the calendar… Robin Rosenthal lost her husband Mark back in 2010, thereafter raising the couple’s children, Sam and Emma, by herself in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
