Today is my birthday, but it feels like just another day. I’m a dog, and though my paws may be small, my heart carries the weight of loneliness. While other dogs might be surrounded by friends and treats on their special day, I find myself alone in the quiet of my little corner.
The house is still, save for the occasional creak of the floorboards and the soft rustle of the breeze through the open window. I look around, wishing for the comforting presence of familiar faces. My humans are busy, and it seems that they’ve forgotten about this particular day that should be mine.
I curl up on my favorite spot, a cozy blanket that smells faintly of home. The sun streams in, casting a warm glow over me, but it does little to chase away the feeling of solitude. I try to shake off the sadness, thinking of the simple joys of running through the park or the occasional belly rub.
