Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) went on a fiery tirade during an intense exchange in an impeachment hearing against President Joe Biden that took place in March of 2024, when former Hunter Biden business associate Tony Bobulinski was testifying.  Republican lawmakers have been investigating Hunter Biden’s business dealings and whether Joe Biden was involved. Tony Bobulinski, a former business associate of Hunter Biden, testified before the House Oversight Committee this week, offering substantial evidence in the GOP-led investigation.  Chairman James Comer (R-KY) had also extended invitations to Hunter Biden and Devon Archer, another former business partner of the president’s son.  However, those two chose not to attend the hearing. During his testimony, Bobulinksi claimed he had previously witnessed potentially criminal actions committed by President Biden.  However, Ocasio-Cortez pressed Bobulinski on his statements, questioning him, “I heard your opening statement is submitted to the record part of our proceedings. I have a quick question. Simple. One the most beautiful and largest castles in Slovakia, in the northern Orava region, Orava Castle is situated on a high rock above Orava river. In the forgotten, rough lands of Orava, on the way to Poland, along the Orava river, you will find a rocky formation, a steep rocky cliff vertically erected to the skies. Oravsky Podzamok village (translated lightly as “village under the castle”) is the starting point to the mighty Orava Castle. As it usually goes with Slovak castles, it was built in the place of former fortified fortress. That was right after the Tartar raids, in the mid 13th century. Orava Castle was owned by many aristocrats, county heads and noblemen, protecting important road to Poland and serving as an administrative and military centre for the region. After Francis Thurzo got the castle in pledge in 1556, he reconstructed it extensively, adding supporting walls to statically disturbed parts, annexing a palace and a new chapel. His son continued with works by building a big bastion with a tunnel, gatehouse and gate tower, according to the principals of then modern fortification theories. Niederfalkenstein Castle is a medieval castle near Obervellach in Carinthia, Austria. It is part of the larger fortified complex of Falkenstein; while the main fortress of Oberfalkenstein today is in ruins, the lower barbican of Niederfalkenstein is largely preserved. Niederfalkenstein History The fortification was erected on a rocky promontory on the slopes of the Reisseck group in the Hohe Tauern mountain range, overlooking the Möll valley east of Obervellach. Niederfalkenstein is 843 meters above sea level. The ruins of Oberfalkenstein include a Bergfried keep with surrounding moats and the foundations of a Romanesque palace. A chapel dedicated to John the Baptist was first mentioned in 1246, greatly enlarged in the Baroque style in 1772 and is still in use. The fortification was first mentioned as Valchenstain Castle in an act from 1164. The name may have derived from Proto-Germanic walhaz in terms of a Roman settlement, referring to the descendants of the former Roman city of Teurnia, who had migrated to the remote valley during the Slavic settlement of the Eastern Alps about 600. The grade II listed ‘snake bridge’ was designed to allow horses to move over without having to untie it from the boat. This smart piece of architecture can be found in Macclesfield. The Macclesfield canal opened in 1831 and it features several snake bridges, or roving bridges, where the towpath goes from one side to the other in a loop. A roving bridge, or snake bridge, is a bridge over a canal constructed to allow a horse towing a boat to cross the canal when the towpath changes sides. This often involved unhitching the tow line, but on some canals they were constructed so that there was no need to do this by placing the two ramps on the same side of the bridge, which turned the horse through 360 degrees. On the Macclesfield Canal, this was achieved by building spiral ramps, and on the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal, it was achieved by constructing roving bridges of iron in two cantilevered halves, leaving a slot in the middle for the tow rope. Recently, the government of Slovakia announced that it would be boycotting the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics after the opening ceremony, which they described as an “insult” to Christianity.  Deputy Prime Minister Tomas Taraba of the leftist-populist government in Slovakia further blasted the display of “degenerate decadence” at the controversial opening ceremony. Subsequently, Taraba stated that he would cancel his trip to France, where he would attend the closing ceremony on behalf of his nation.  Many believe one of the performances, in particular, was an overt mockery of “The Last Supper,” a critical moment in Christianity in which Jesus shared his final meal with the apostles.  The Deputy Prime Minister has been covering specific duties in the wake of the failed assassination attempt against Prime Minister Robert Fico in May. Speaking in an interview on Fox News Channel’s “Jesse Watters Primetime” with host Jesse Watters, famed investor and “Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary, also jokingly called “Mr. Wonderful,” sounded off on Vice President and likely 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, saying that the good press she has recently received will soon come to an end as people realize how awful it is. Fox News Channel’s hit show “The Five” recently devolved into a wild spat when discussing allegations about Kamala Harris’ tactics she employed to advance her career.  The show is often known for its intense exchanges when the co-hosts discuss hot-button political issues, which was demonstrated when the panel addressed the topic of whether black Americans support Harris along with allegations that she had sexual relations with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown. A criticism of Harris among conservatives is that she is an unqualified “DEI hire” who was only selected as President Biden’s running mate because she is a black woman who would appeal to the Democratic Party’s diversity interests. Jessica Tarlov, the dissenting liberal voice on the show, took issue with this claim about Harris. Today is my birthday, but it feels like just another day. I’m a dog, and though my paws may be small, my heart carries the weight of loneliness.
