Churro Bars

Posted on August 4, 2024 By sg4vo No Comments on Churro Bars

The flavors you know and love! I love just about every kind of Mexican food, so it’s no surprise I’d love one of their most famous desserts: churros! While this doughy treat actually originated in Spain and Portugal, it made its way across the Atlantic where it was quickly adopted and adapted into the Mexican treat we know today. This recipe is inspired by the classic churro flavors, but it’s a whole lot easier to whip up. May I introduce you to our Churro Bars! They’re full of sweet cinnamon goodness and bake up in no time. I’d call these bars something between a blondie and a cookie bar. They’re deliciously dense and chewy, but have that crispy top that resembles the outside of a fried churro. With plenty of cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top! We didn’t include a chocolate dipping sauce in this recipe, but I’m sure you could whip one up for the full Mexican experience. These easy bars would make the perfect treat for a bake sale, potluck, or just a late night treat at home. One of the best parts is that you’re likely to have all the ingredients on hand already! How great is… CONTINUE READING…

A Haunted Hotel

The Drovers Inn is rumored to be one of the most haunted hotels in Britain! We have had many tales of ghouls and ghosts coming to visit people at The Drovers. Read the stories and tell us your own encounters by messaging us in Facebook. In the late 18th century, in the winter of 1792, the year which later became known as ‘The Year of the Sheep’. A young crofting family were forcibly removed from where they lived; their landlords having decided that the land would turn more of a profit, if it was used for sheep farming. With nowhere to live, and little money or means to support their young child, the family had no option other than to head south in the hope of creating a new life for themselves in the Scottish lowlands, or maybe even emigrate to one of the new worlds. On their long journey south in the winter months, one night they got caught in a heavy snowstorm. They had been trying to reach shelter and safety at The Drovers Inn. However, with the visibility very poor, and the family being exhausted from their journey, they took a wrong path somewhere on the way…. CONTINUE READING…

Sha’Carri Richardson wins silver in women’s 100m

PARIS – Dallas native Sha’Carri Richardson is a silver medal winner. St. Lucia’s Julien Alfred won gold, outrunning Richardson for the second straight race, after beating her in the semifinal earlier in the day. Alfred, who runs for UT Austin, won St. Lucia’s first-ever Olympic medal. Richardson ran the 100-meter race in a blistering 10.87 on Saturday to take second place. Alfred jumped out to a lead out of the blocks and Richardson couldn’t quite close the gap. USA’s Melissa Jefferson won the bronze. TeeTee Terry from Team USA also ran in the final, finishing in fifth. It is the first time since 2012 that all US women reached the final. The win has been a long time coming for the 24-year-old Richardson after she missed her opportunity to race in the Tokyo Olympics.  Richardson won the trials but was kept off the team after testing positive for marijuana. She later told reporters she used marijuana as a way to cope with the death of her biological mother, which happened just days before the 2021 qualifying. Then she struggled on the track in 2022. Richardson failed to make it out of the first round of the U.S. championships. But Sha’Carri kept working to return to… CONTINUE READING…

Heartfelt Revelation: Mother Opens Up About Sharing Daughter’s Final Moments on Facebook”

When Zoey was diagnosed with cancer, she was just three years old. Before this, she was a lively and active child, much like many others her age. She grew up in a warm and loving household, known for her affectionate and joyful nature. One day, while playing, Zoey took a fall. A few weeks later, she began to lose control of both of her hands. It was at this point that her family realized something was seriously wrong and promptly took her to the hospital. Upon arrival, they received news that would forever be etched in their hearts, leaving an indelible message they would carry with them always. The doctor conveyed the devastating diagnosis: Zoey had DIPG, an uncommon and severe form of brain tumor. This revelation was especially heartbreaking considering their young daughter had been so full of life and love. “We were lost, Casey, Zoey’s mother, recalled. We had no idea what steps to take, where to turn. It felt like we were facing a sentence of unimaginable pain.”

WATCH: Biden Walks Off Live MSNBC Interview While Still On Air

WATCH: Biden Walks Off Live MSNBC Interview While Still On Air

It was yet another bad moment for Biden when, during a July of 2023 sit-down interview with MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace, he awkwardly stood up and walked off the set while the live interview was still on the air, something stunningly weird even despite the president’s past gaffes and oddities. That came when Biden, realizing that the interview was about over, said, “I’ll be a president for every American whether they voted for me or not.” Nicole Wallace then thanked him for doing the interview, saying, “Mr. President, thank you.” It then got awkward in a hurry, as Biden stood up to shake Wallace’s hand and said,  “Thank you, thank you, thank you.” Wallace then told Biden, who was at that point standing up and looking like he was ready to head off, not to leave, saying, “Don’t go anywhere. It’s a very exciting day around here. We’ll have reaction and analysis to everything we just heard.” Biden walked away anyway. Though the interview was mainly panned for Biden’s awkward standing up and walking away, it was also attacked because Wallace didn’t ask President Biden a single question about the Hunter Biden situation. In fact, the recent whistleblower revelations and slap-on-the-wrist plea deals… CONTINUE READING…

JD Vance Ascends NYT Best Sellers List Once Again as “Hillbilly Elegy” Rockets to the Top

Following the great news that Ohio Senator JD Vance will be former President Donald Trump’s running mate in the 2024 election, sales of Vance’s 2016 memoir and expose on the threats facing Appalachia, “Hillbilly Elegy,” has rocketed right back up the non-fiction segment of the New York Times Bestseller’s list. As background, the book mainly revolves around Sen. Vance’s hard time growing up in the heart of Appalachia, the small town of Middletown, Ohio. In the book, he tells the story of how his grandma raised him because his mother, who is now sober and on good terms, was addicted to the pills that plague the region and thus out of the home while in and out of rehab. The book has been quite popular since it came out, with many on the populist right using it as an example of how the once proud and functional Scots-Irish in Appalachia, the descendants of Scotland’s border reivers and the group that fills the ranks of America’s military, were brought low by globalization shipping their jobs away and pill pushers addicting them to opiates on behalf of the Sacklers and similar opioid producers. But while it has been popular for a long… CONTINUE READING…

Grilled Meat Dipping Sauce (Yakiniku Sauce)

Posted on August 3, 2024August 3, 2024 By sg4vo No Comments on Grilled Meat Dipping Sauce (Yakiniku Sauce)

A complex sauce packed full of umami flavor. Move over steak sauce and ketchup, there’s a new contender in town in the form of Grilled Meat Dipping Sauce. A savory and sweet medley of flavors cozies up to earthy and acidic elements to create a sauce that you’ll want to use on everything. Grilled Meat Dipping Sauce (also known as yakiniku sauce) is used to dip fresh-off-the-grill slices of beef, but this sauce should not be limited to one type of meat. This well-balanced sauce tastes as if barbecue sauce got several injections of umami. What makes this sauce different is its texture, which comes from pureed onion. The finely chopped onion and all of the juices add acidity, as well as thickness to the sauce. Garlic, ginger, and miso paste all get mixed in to add a complex aromatic body. Soy sauce adds the right level of saltiness, and the touch of sugar balances the salty and savory elements out.  Finally, sesame seeds get added to create another layer of texture alongside a dose of nuttiness. Once all whisked together, the sauce gets microwaved for a few seconds, just enough to dissolve the sugar into the sauce.  You can… CONTINUE READING…
