Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, former President Donald Trump’s 2024 running mate, outfoxed CNN anchor Dana Bash when he appeared on her “State of the Union” show on Sunday, August 11. He did so to attack Minnesota Gov. Walz for what Vance and many others argue were Walz’s lies about his military service. As background, Walz, who formerly served as a sergeant major in the Army National Guard, retired and dropped out despite having two years left on his contract when the unit was to be deployed to Iraq, with many saying that he left his men in the lurch by doing so. He has also lied about his military service, saying he carried weapons “in war” when he never served in combat or during a war. Many argue that those exaggerations of his service and his leaving service when it would have meant war show that he has engaged in “stolen valor.” His spat with Bash began when she tried to trick him into either denigrating Walz’s service or go back on his attacks. Fox News’ “The Five” found itself with entertainment gold as the host got into another one of the show’s iconic heated arguments on air. Liberal host Jessica Tarlov was seen on the set having a heated debate with her co-hosts as she tried to defend the millions of dollars that Hunter Biden has allegedly made by using his father’s name and influence. “The Five” was discussing the recent testimony from Devon Archer, a Hunter Biden business associate, when all hell broke loose. “So the testimony, and he wasn’t under oath, but he still wasn’t allowed to lie to them, was terrible for the Republicans,” Tarlov said. “He was asked if someone concluded from the 1023 form, that you all think is so important, that Joe Biden was bribed. ‘Would you disagree with that? Yeah, I would.’ Devin Archer said that.” The lengths to which Tarlov was willing to reach to defend the Biden family were truly amazing. A picturesque body of water framed by snowcapped mountains, Lake Resia might strike the casual viewer as a beautiful scene typical to northern Italy. But one structure belies the lake’s strange history: a 14th-century bell tower that bizarrely juts out of the water’s blue-green depths. The steeple hints at what lies beneath the surface: namely, Curon, an Italian village that was flooded by the government in 1950 to create an artificial lake. Last week, reports BBC News, remnants of the submerged town were once again exposed to the elements after construction crews temporarily drained part of the 72-foot-deep lake, marking the first time the lost village has reemerged in some seven decades. The bizarre sunken village sits in South Tyrol, a mountainous Alpine province nestled at the intersection of Italy, Austria and Switzerland. According to a separate report by BBC News’ Bethany Bell, Italy annexed South Tyrol from the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1919, at the end of World War I. Most people in the region are native German speakers. The far-left “Squad” in Congress has recently taken a hit as two of its members, Reps. Cori Bush (D-MO) and Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), lost their respective reelection bids. According to recent reports, another member of the progressive group of legislators could be on the way out, as Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) faces intense competition. The upcoming primary on Tuesday will decide if Omar goes on to represent the Democratic party in Minnesota, where she faces three challengers.  Given the state’s voting laws allowing citizens to participate in their primary of choice, Republican voters have been urged to vote for one of Omar’s Democratic opponents since Republican candidate Dalia Al-Aqidi is running unopposed. The last-minute effort to oust Omar comes amid an apparent decline in the “Squad’s” popularity among their constituents, demonstrated by the monumental defeats. Reports indicate that the far-left legislators’ fervent anti-Israel rhetoric has turned off many voters. Subsequently, organizations centered around anti-semitism have launched social media campaigns to dissuade voters from “Squad” members. Senator JD Vance again roasted Vice President Kamala Harris in funny post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, August 9, once again bringing up her seeming reluctance to speak to journalists about anything at all, something that many on the right have brought up in the weeks after President Biden dropped out and named her as his successor. Trump, for example, joked that Vice President Harris is barely competent and unable to do interviews, quite in contrast to him, saying, “She hasn’t done an interview. She can’t do an interview. She’s barely competent. She can’t do an interview, but I look forward to the debates because we have to set the record straight.” Posting about the matter on X and using it to bring up both the lack of border security under the Biden-Harris administration and Kamala’s reluctance to speak to any journalists, saying, “If we could convince Kamala Harris that illegal aliens are actually journalists trying to ask her questions she’d build that border wall in five seconds.” This wasn’t the first time that Vance trolled Harris over her seeming refusal to meet with or speak to journalists. This abandoned merchant warehouse complex in Tainan’s Anping District was originally built in the 19th century by the British Tait & Co trading company, which is evident in the Western colonial architecture that is still just barely visible at the front of the overgrown site. Nowadays, the place has taken on a new purpose altogether, thanks to the spectacle of the Anping Tree House that is tucked around the back. For a few dollars, you can enter the grounds and find the remains of the warehouse buildings crumbling under an extraordinary web of banyan tree roots. In the years since the site was abandoned, the living banyan tree has forced its way through, over, and across the brickwork and concrete. Remarkably, the sprawling roots and branches have excellently preserved the shape of walls, doorways, and roofs that have long since fallen down and been removed. An elevated walkway has been added to the grounds, which allows visitors to navigate the rooms of the Anping Tree House, as it has been dubbed, without too much interruption from the tangled tree roots that hang everywhere. Speaking during an interview with CNN on Thursday, August 8, Doug Julin, who was above Minnesota Governor Tim Walz in the National Guard hierarchy before Walz dropped out of it in the months before his unit was deployed to Iraq, said that Walz was wrong to do what he did and that Walz went behind his back to get out of deploying because he would have said he could not do so. Julin, for reference, was a more senior command sergeant in the Minnesota National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery. He said that in 2004, as the insurgency in Iraq was picking up steam and more Americans were needed for the conflict, the unit’s leadership received a notification from higher up informing them that they were to be deployed to Iraq within the year. Then, when they alerted those below them to prepare for deployment, Walz moved to retire. Julin then said that, as the unit prepared for deployment in February of 2005, then-Sergeant Major Walz approached him after a pre-deployment meeting to say that he would be running for office and so wanted to give Julin a “warning order” about that plan. The Trump campaign recently released a new ad that exposes Kamala Harris’ radical agenda. Notably, the basis of the ad is not direct attacks from Trump’s team.  Instead, it is centered the vice president’s own statements explaining her progressive stances on various important issues the nation is currently challenged with. Former President Donald Trump debuted the ad during a rally he hosted on Friday, showing the crowd “what Kamala Harris would do as president” in her own words.  The clip opens with a comment from Harris, stating, “Yeah, I am radical. We need to get radical about what we are doing and take it seriously.”  The ad then called out numerous far-left policy stances Kamala has stood behind in recent years. The ad highlighted Harris’ stance on passing the “Green New Deal,” in which she once vowed to end the filibuster.  “As President of the United States, I am prepared to get rid of the filibuster to pass a Green Deal,” she said.  Similarly, the anti-Harris clip addressed her intention to “ban fracking.”  In another instance, she said, “There’s no question. Former President Donald Trump’s campaign stated on Saturday that he was “fine” and being checked at a local medical facility after an apparent shooting at a political rally. Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said that Trump was “fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.” Cheung added that Trump “thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act.” As Trump addressed a sizable gathering of fans in Pennsylvania, what appeared to be gunshots broke out, leaving blood on the side of his face. He stood up, raised his fist, and yelled at the audience to “fight” as the Secret Service hurried him from the platform. “An incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania,” the U.S. Secret Service said in a statement. “The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe. Following the presidential debate debacle that unfolded late last month, Joe Biden is continuing to display signs of declining mental and physical health.  Such demonstrations of his advanced age are problematic for the Biden campaign as it attempts to recover ground and reinstill faith among the Democratic Party and American voters that the president is fit to serve as the commander-in-chief. Before the debate, President Biden spent the week at Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland, preparing for his head-to-head discussion with former President Donald Trump, where he had his schedule cleared until the event.  However, footage of Biden arriving at the retreat appeared to foreshadow what would unfold on the debate stage. According to RNC Research, an account run by the Republican National Committee that has consistently raised concerns regarding President Biden’s health shared a clip of Biden exiting his presidential aircraft.  The caption read, “Biden arrives at Camp David, where he’ll be holed away — and heavily doped up — ahead of the debate.
