Multi-billionaire Elon Musk recently appeared alongside former President Trump during his return to Butler, Pennsylvania, the site of the failed assassination attempt in mid-July. Musk, who formally endorsed Trump after he was nearly killed when a bullet grazed his ear, sounded off on President Joe Biden while stressing the need for Americans to get out and vote Republican.
Footage from the event shows the Republican presidential candidate introducing Musk, who walked out onstage, jumping up and down out of exuberant excitement to be speaking at a Trump rally. Musk was wearing a “Dark MAGA” hat and a t-shirt stating, “Occupy Mars.” “The true test of someone’s character is how they behave under fire,” the Tesla founder said.
Musk then took a shot at Biden. “We had one president who couldn’t climb a flight of stairs and another who was fist pumping after getting shot,” he said, ostensibly referring to Biden’s past struggles walking up the stairs of Air Force One while praising Trump’s bravery after being shot. “America is the home of the brave, and there’s no truer test than courage under fire, so who do you want representing America?” he asked the crowd.
The crowd erupted after this statement, and attendees could be seen waving signs that read “Never Surrender” and “Fight, Fight, Fight” in the grandstands behind Musk. The multi-company CEO proceeded to highlight the importance of the upcoming election, which is less than a month away. Musk claimed the Democratic Party is seeking to limit the rights of American citizens, including voting, private firearm ownership, and freedom of speech.
“This is no ordinary election. The other side wants to take away your freedom of speech. They want to take away your right to bear arms. They want to take away your right to vote effectively. You’ve got 14 states now that don’t require voter I.D. California, where I used to live, just passed a law banning voter ID for voting. I still can’t believe that’s real. So, how are you supposed to have a good, proper election if there’s no ID? It’s meaningless.”
Musk continued, “Free speech is the bedrock of democracy. If people don’t know what’s what’s going on, if they don’t know the truth, how can you how can you make an informed vote you must have free speech, in order to have democracy. That’s why it’s the First Amendment. And the second amendment is there to ensure that we have the First Amendment.”
Musk repeatedly urged the crowd to get out and vote stressing the dire importance of doing so in this election cycle, particularly in crucial swing states which will likely decide the outcome, coming down to the wire. Reminding the crowd of deadlines to register to vote, he also implored them to make sure friends and colleagues were registered and planning to vote as well. “If there’s one takeaway for anything that will matter is getting those registrations and then and then getting everyone to actually vote. That is what will decide this election, especially in Pennsylvania,” he added.
