Ok, here’s your test for the day. Any guesses what this mysterious object could be?
While working on our home built in 1908, we noticed a strange little feature just above the floorboard — something embedded in the wall, painted over countless times, and almost hidden in plain sight. It’s been stuck there for who-knows-how-long, blending in so well it could’ve been forgotten forever.
But thanks to the sharp eyes of our painter (shout-out to them!), we finally figured out what it was.
Before we spoil it… take a guess!
- It’s small, round-ish, and mounted low on the wall
- It’s not a knob, outlet, or button
- It’s definitely original to the house — over 100 years old
- It has a specific function that would have been used regularly in early 20th-century homes
We love discovering little pieces of history like this in older homes. It’s amazing how much character and mystery is built into the walls — literally. Every element tells a story.
So what do you think it is? Leave your guess in the comments before we reveal the answer!
