Recently, a hilarious parody campaign ad for Vice President Kamala Harris was released and has taken the internet by storm. Since Harris has stepped up as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee after President Joe Biden announced he would be dropping out of the 2024 race, she has faced intense scrutiny as the American public assesses the prospect of her running the country.
The video, which was either created with artificial intelligence or a highly skilled voice actor, addresses several prominent criticisms of Harris. It opens by suggesting she was launching her presidential bid because of Biden’s apparent “senility.” It further highlights her status as a minority and a woman, playing off arguments that Harris was a “DEI” selection as Biden’s running mate.
“I, Kamal Harris, and your Democrat candidate for president because Joe Biden finally exposed to senility debate,” the video opened, addressing the president’s infamously bad performance during the presidential debate in late June, which ostensibly ended his participation in the 2024 race. Following the debate, Biden faced calls from Democrats to step down for weeks leading up to his decision to withdraw.
The clip then joked about Kamala Harris’ intersectional identities, where many claim she is in her station as a “DEI hire” because of her minority status and gender. “I was selected because I am the ultimate diversity hire. I’m both a woman and a person of color, so if you criticize anything I say you’re both sexist and racist,” the fake commentary continued.
The parody ad further claimed Biden and Harris are incompetent tools of the Deep State. “I may not know the first thing about running the country, but remember, that’s a good thing if you’re a deep state puppet. I had four years under the tutelage of the ultimate Deep State puppet, a wonderful mentor, Joe Biden. Joe taught me rule number one, carefully hide your total incompetence,” the video continued.
Harris has often been criticized for giving meandering word-salad statements, which the video highlighted. “I take in significant things and I discuss them as if they’re significant. And I believe that exploring the significance of the insignificant is in itself significant. Talking about the significance of the passage of time, right? The significance of the passage of time.
