Answered by u/lycosuchus2:As a professional mammalogist, this is 100% a koala. I could tell immediately because the skin has become shrink wrapped around the skull, and the skull of a koala is quite unique. The hand also fits the uniqueness of the koala’s hand, with two small digits opposing three larger ones with claws fit for climbing and suspension. The excessive lanky-ness of the body is just because we’re used to seeing koalas with all their puffy fur and muscles. The muscles here have completely decomposed and desiccated away. It’s like when you get a fluffy cat or dog wet, they just look fundamentally different.1,087 votesWhat do you think?Interesting find?

Answered by u/MiauMiauKitten:So… I’m originally from Mexico and grew up hearing about different kinds of “brujeria” (witchcraft, not sure how to translate). Based on what I can make out of the written note, this is called an “amarre entierro,” a burial binding. Not sure if it’s tied up to Santeria or some other magic based religion, I’m not knowledgeable about this practices. I only know an entierro is used to curse a person and consists in making a doll representing that person with the damage you want to inflict upon them and burying it in a graveyard.Looks like the photo of the note gives instructions on how to break the curse! It was too deteriorated to make out but I can read: “To break the curse burial…you must find…3 crosses… and it will break the curse….you will never do it! Ha ha ha” Answered by u/fachomuchacho:Yup, it’s an amarre done to a man called Apolonio Avalos. No bueno. I would suggest you simply inform whoever is responsible for gravekeeping so they can dispose of it.Answered by u/AbsentToSight:Its in spanish, mostly inintelligible, but starts “Maldito Apolomio Ana Luz, hijo de tu putisima madre tu y toda tu decendencia…La felicidad no tendrás…” and “Dolor, maldito estará, desgracia.”TranslationDamned Apolomio Analuz, son of a wh0re you and your whole offspring…. Answered by u/tharookery:It is a Campbell-Stokes sunshine recorder. You place a strip of card into one set of grooves in the piece that curves behind the sphere, point the opposite side of the sphere towards the equator, and the sphere will focus the sunlight to burn a track on the card. The card has hours marked, and more the card is burnt, the brighter the sunlight was.Answered by u/Mavi222:For anyone wondering like me what the card looks like burned, here is a photo of it.584 votesInteresting find?

Answered by u/LustfulPlatypus:It’s a pill for ruminant animals. Answered by u/lamb_passanda:Short relevant story: growing up, my mum was always very into health trends such as raw smoothies, kombucha, sourdough cultures and all manner of dietary supplements. It was very important to her that her kids eat a range of mostly harmless pills and capsules each day. I’m talking cod-liver oil, zinc, vitamin D3, L-Tyrosine, etc.She is also a part-time farmer and farming enthusiast (her boyfriend owns a sheep farm). One evening, I wandered into their room to see them sitting on the bed, discussing some kind of pill she was holding in her hand. It seemed they were deliberating whether to eat it. Having been familiarised with the drill many times, I just walked up and ate the pill without question.Turns out it was a copper capsule made for sheep, just like this one. I spent the whole night puking into the toilet. So…TL;DR: Don’t eat this thing.526 votesInteresting find?

Answered by u/Kfd49597:MG-42  Answered by u/NahAnyway:Yeah… Someone linked an auction to a more complete one that was estimated to sell for $40,000 – $60,000…You should probably try to find the rest but even that main part there is crazy valuable. Definitely don’t take it to the police. Some more info:Rare Original World War II Nazi MG-42 Fully Automatic Class III Light Machine Gun with Tons of Accessories Belts Barrels Mounts and Drum MagazinesEstimate Price: $40,000 – $60,000Manufacturer Gustloff Werke- Suhl Model MG42 Type Machine gun Gauge 7.92 mm Mauser Catalog Page 134 Barrel 21 inch round Finish phosphate/blue Grip Stock walnut Class Class IIIDescriptionThis is an exceptional original WWII fully functional German MG42 light machine gun. These were probably the most feared WWII German weapon on the battlefield. They were mass produced, highly effective, had a high rate of fire and were easily transported by the average German soldier and they were the corner stone of every German Infantry company. These MGs were actually a wartime improvement over the early fully machined MG34, in that they utilized new and innovative mass production techniques of stamped steel parts that were welded or riveted and combined with limited machined parts. Together they allowed the German factories to manufacture well over 400,000 of these MGs during WWII. They proved to be one of the best light machine guns manufactured during WWII, so much that in 1943/44 the U.S. Army copied the design to evaluate it for our use and later on also used many of the features during the development of the M-60 machine gun in the early 1960s.This weapon had several innovative features, the manufacturing techniques noted above, the new delayed roller-block locking system and the quick change barrel. This weapon had an extremely high rate of fire (1,200 rds/minute) so the last feature allowed the average infantry man to rapidly change out the barrels in the field during battle without any tools which helped to preserve barrel life and to prevent cook-offs. These features were years ahead of anything that the allies had. These unique weapons were made by four primary companies, Mauser, Maget of Berlin, Gustloff-Werkes, and Steyr. The left side of the receiver is actually marked “M.U./5301/h/dfb”, indicating this excellent weapon was manufactured by the “Gustloff-Werkes-Suhl” and the receiver has the wartime code of “dfb”. The front of the receiver has the original WWII folding bipod and the center section of the receiver has the machined top cover center support that is marked with the assembly numbers of “7824/n” and “ar” on top indicating it was manufactured by the Mauser factory. Attached to it is the stamped top cover that carries the wartime code of “Eagle/WaA510”. The barrel is matching to the receiver and is marked on the side “dfb/WaA4/530/h”. Most of the various parts carry some kind of a German WWII Waffenamt proof. It has the original folding front sight and tangent rear marked 2-20, (200-2,000 meters). It has the earlier wooden buttstock that is stamped on the left side “hvg/44”. The right underside of the receiver is stamped “CELCO/KC/Mo.” for the manufacturer who registered the weapon. This wonderful MG is complete with five MG42 barrels, four are WWII barrels and one is a post-war barrel chambered in “7.62 NATO”, two barrel carriers, three MG34 drum/basket magazines, one MG 34 carrier, two ammunition cans that contain a complete spare top cover and feed tray, (maybe for 7.62 to use with the barrel), a linker/delinker with crank handle, a large folding tripod mount with anti-aircraft sight and adapter/extension rod, a field kit that includes an asbestos glove, oilers, barrel/MG wrenches, ruptured shell extractor, cleaning brush, pull through cleaning rope/brush all contained in green canvas carrying pouch. Also included with this complete set up is an original large tripod mounted range finder with metal storage case.598 votesInteresting find?

Answered by Redditor u/notapantsday:This is very common in Germany, we call it “Wechselbad”. You’re supposed to keep your feet in the warm water first and then quickly put them in the cold water (repeat a few times). This is supposed to help with circulation although I’m not sure if there’s actually scientific evidence for that.We usually have these in spas and other wellness or health related facilities.Answered by Redditor u/dafyddtomas:The proposed mechanism is vasoconstriction and vasodilation – heat widens the blood vessels while cold constricts them. Effectively it produces kind of a pump mechanism for the blood vessels. The science behind can be conflicting and in a normal setting one would never use only this method . It’s a harmless auxiliary therapeutic approach. 339 votesInteresting find?

In addition mechanics tend to overuse grease on the machines on the line and the leftover spills out. This ball is a combination of tot bits and food grade grease that built up in one of those choke points until it was large enough to work loose and enter the product stream. A worker doing inspection should have caught it but didn’t. 313 votesInteresting find?

Answered by u/BeggarMidas:A closer look at the stone & wire “necklace” would help pin it down further…But almost certainly a poppet. With the materials being used, it’s either invoking a very specific spiritform or a stand in/proxy for a practitioner. Most likely to aid in conception, or to ward against evil intent/spirits that might harm the fetus. If this was found close to a chimney or kitchen could be a ‘kitchen witch’ as well. Still beneficial in intent.NOT *REPEAT* NOT A VOODOO DOLL! Those sorts of dolls require hair from the host, clothing items they had worn, etc. Things of a very personal nature. Which this doll lacks.Answered by u/3moonmommy:I’m no expert, but I practice witchcraft. It’s definitely a poppet. They can be made of various materials like (hair, clay, yarn, fabric, or straw.) A voodoo doll is the most popular and well known kind of poppet, but not all poppets are voodoo dolls. And while they commonly do contain the hair or other biological material of the target, they don’t have to. A taglock can be a piece of clothing, a personal object, a picture, or even just a name written on a piece of paper. This one looks like it was probably made to resemble someone or something specific. They can be used for good or bad. Its just represents a tether which can be used for sympathetic magic.316 votesInteresting find?

Answered by u/neurocellulose:I believe I have solved this. I found another version of this illustration with Hebrew symbols, implying it might have been of Kabbalistic origin. This illustration appeared in the book Ritual America, published in 2012 and written by Adam Parfrey and Craig Heimbichner. It was titled “The Rosicrucian Order”. So not Kabbalah per se.That led me to dig further, and I stumbled upon a watercolor from c.1933 entitled “The Rosicrucian Order” which I believe to be the original concept (or at least derivative enough to be highly connected both in time & place to OPs object). The text on this page states:The Rosicrucian Order
c1933. One watercolour with pencil and two lithograph charts, both lithographs stamped with “AMORC”, one dated “7 Sept. 1933” in image lower right, 38.1 x 29.3cm to 42 x 42cm (paper, approx. each). Pinholes, tears to edges, minor foxing, creases and crinkles overall.Stamp includes “The Rosicrucian Order. Known as ‘The ancient mystic order Rosae Crucis’ [AMORC] throughout the world.” One chart includes text “The musical keyboard, with rate of cosmic vibrations and relation to colors, chemicals and vowel sounds.” The other chart is in Russian Cyrillic.“Rosicrucianism is a spiritual and cultural movement which arose in Europe in the early 17th century…The mysterious doctrine of the order is allegedly ‘built on esoteric truths of the ancient past’, which ‘concealed from the average man, provide insight into nature, the physical universe, and the spiritual realm.’” Ref: Wiki.I believe your little ornament is some commercialized production of Kabbalistic/Rosicrucianist “magic” or “mystical” intent.216 votesInteresting find?
