A devastating plane crash off the coast of Honduras has claimed the lives of 12 individuals.

The Lanhsa Airlines Jetstream 31 aircraft took off from Roatán, a popular Caribbean tourist destination, on Monday night, bound for La Ceiba on the mainland.
Shortly after departure, the plane reportedly experienced mechanical failure, veered sharply right, and plunged into the sea approximately 0.6 miles from the coast.
