On February 15, Moukoko was taking part in a mandatory swim class at Montreal’s Centre Père-Marquette when he reportedly sank in the deep end of the pool without anyone noticing. His classmates only discovered his body after the class had ended. He was removed from the water and CPR was administered before paramedics transported him to Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital. By that point, Moukoko had suffered severe brain damage. Despite all medical efforts, he never regained consciousness and passed away six days later, according to CTV News.
