A House Republican has put forth a resolution to censure New Jersey Democrat LaMonica McIver, who was indicted in May for allegedly obstructing federal agents during a visit to an immigration facility. Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana is also advocating for McIver’s removal from the House Homeland Security Committee, as reported by Fox News. The resolution asserts that her ongoing participation on the committee would represent a “significant conflict of interest” in light of the charges she is facing. McIver was indicted by a federal grand jury on three counts, which include assaulting and interfering with officers during an incident on May 9 at the Delaney Hall Immigration Facility in Newark. Additionally, the resolution references House rules that mandate members to “behave at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House,” contending that McIver’s actions do not meet this standard. During the incident, McIver and two other lawmakers were engaged in an official oversight visit that coincided with a protest. Two brothers accused of killing their stepfather and dumping his body in McAllen were back in court Monday. Christian and Alejandro Treviño have been in custody since authorities found Gabriel Quintanilla’s body in Jan. 2022. The Pharr Police Department previously said the brothers attacked Quintanilla after a younger relative said Quintanilla touched her inappropriately. Christian and Alejandro were 17 and 18 years old when they were arrested. READ ABOUT THE INITIAL ARREST HERE On Monday, the attorney representing Christian and Alejandro told the judge they need more time to wait on DNA evidence before moving forward. The evidence was found on a GMC truck and includes brass knuckles allegedly used to beat Quintanilla.  A third person — Juan Melendez — was also charged in connection with Quintanilla’s death and was in court on Monday. Melendez was released on bond on Aug. 2022. When a beautiful lab and hound mix was spotted on the streets of Johannesburg, South Africa, no one could figure out what the strange bumps on her ears and around her eyes. It turns out that the dog, named Belle, was infested with blood-sucking ticks. They were especially bad around her ears and eyes. And the vet couldn’t remove them all at once or Belle would’ve lost a lot of blood. Knowing that it would take a while for Belle to heal, the CLAW team realized what they needed to do.
